Chapter 7 – Agreeing to the Interview

Author: Bo He Liang Xia .

Qiao Le couldn’t help but laugh and cry — here they went again.

Resigned, she hung her bag around her neck, then pulled her friend’s arm over her own shoulder to support her as they walked back.

“Beep, beep, beep.”

The alarm clock kept ringing. Mu Wanwan, eyes still closed, reached toward the nightstand, hit the button to turn it off, and rolled over to continue sleeping.

Not two minutes later, she suddenly sat up in shock, rubbing her throbbing head. The hangover left her feeling dizzy and dazed.

“Wanwan, you’re awake?” Qiao Le heard the noise, pushed open the door, and came in holding a spatula. “Go wash up — breakfast’s almost ready.”

Mu Wanwan mumbled an acknowledgment, lingered in bed for a moment, and then reluctantly got up to wash.

“Still dizzy? Maybe you should take a day off and not go to work today.” Qiao Le poured her a glass of juice and sat down across from her.

“You’ll be late anyway.”

While drinking her juice, Mu Wanwan texted Zheng Hao to let her know she’d be taking two hours off that morning and would come in later.

“Forget it,” she said. “There’s a pile of things waiting for me at the magazine. I’ll finish them today so I can enjoy a peaceful weekend.”

Qiao Le bit into a piece of toast. “I’ve got a show to host this afternoon, so I probably won’t make it to dinner with Aunt Yu like I promised. Can you tell your mom for me? I’ll go another day.”

Mu Wanwan nodded. “Got it.”

Leaving the apartment, Mu Wanwan looked up at the deep blue sky, the blazing sunlight dazzling her eyes. She raised a hand to shield them.

After a moment’s thought, she pulled out her phone and dialed Zheng Hao. “Sister Zheng, I’ve made up my mind about the interview. Have Yin Bing and Chen Yi meet me at the entrance of Lu Group. I’ll head over and join them there.”

Zheng Hao, who was in the middle of a meeting, couldn’t hide her surprise. When she heard that Mu Wanwan had agreed to the interview, her stern expression broke into a smile.

“Great, I’ll send them right away.”

In the spacious, brightly lit office, Lu Li stared at the pile of documents stacked on his desk, but had no intention of reading any of them.

His thoughts had already drifted far away — to that woman named Mu Wanwan.

M·E Magazine. Hah. Mu Wanwan, are you still going to keep avoiding me this time?

Huo Zheng pushed the door open. The moment he stepped in, he sensed something unusual in the air.

He suddenly remembered what he’d heard from Yu Yang, and things started to make sense.

Closing the door quietly, he walked over and sat down, trying not to draw attention.

“Lu Li, I heard from Yu Yang that you turned down M·E Magazine’s interview yesterday?”

He spoke carefully, testing the waters, afraid of triggering Lu Li’s temper.

Lu Li stayed silent.

Observing his expression, Huo Zheng gathered his courage and continued, “I also heard that M·E Magazine recently got a new deputy editor — someone named Mu Wanwan?”

The coincidence was almost absurd. At first, he didn’t believe that the Mu Wanwan from the magazine was the same one they knew. But after checking, it turned out to be true.

Well, things were about to get interesting again.

Lu Li lifted his eyelids, giving him a cold, sharp look. His voice was icy. “What exactly are you trying to say?”

“Ahem.” Huo Zheng’s heart skipped a beat under that gaze. He coughed lightly into his fist and stopped beating around the bush. “Lu Li, Mu Wanwan’s back. What are you planning to do about it?”

He had met Mu Wanwan back in their university days — through Lu Li. They’d known each other for two or three years. He never thought she was the kind of woman who chased fame or money. Maybe there was more to what happened back then than anyone knew.

Exclusive Interview with President Lu

📰 Reporter: “President Lu, we heard that Miss Mu was your first love. You two broke up in the past. Why did you get back together now?”

💬 Lu Li (with a charming smile, eyes lowered to look at the person beside him):

“I fell in love with her when love first bloomed… and for the rest of my life, it can only ever be her.”

The crowd erupts — this kind of cheesy love line is lethal!

📰 Reporters quickly shift their microphones toward Mu Wanwan:
“Miss Mu, what is President Lu to you?”

💬 Mu Wanwan (smiling with crescent-shaped eyes):

“My big sun.”

As the words fall, Lu Li’s gaze on her burns even hotter.

📰 Another reporter boldly teases, “Then President Lu, what is Miss Mu to you?”

All the gossip-loving eyes instantly lock on the handsome, sunny man.

💬 Lu Li (his low, magnetic voice making the audience melt):

“My little sweetheart.”
