Chapter – 50
Let’s Come Mooching a Meal
“What do you mean it’s all my responsibility, Mu Wanwan? Watch your words!” Lu Ziqing glared at her angrily. “If you have proof, show it. This whole matter is your fault anyway.”
“Wanwan, don’t bother with someone like this, it’s not worth it,” Qiao Le couldn’t stand it any longer. Lu Ziqing was being utterly unreasonable. “Lu Ziqing, if you keep being so stubborn, how about this—I’ll call Lu Li and let him handle this, okay?”
The mention of Lu Li instantly weakened Lu Ziqing’s domineering aura.
“Qiao Le, you…”
“You what? Step aside.” Qiao Le bumped her shoulder and pulled Mu Wanwan away.
Lu Ziqing watched the two of them get into the car and leave, trembling with anger.
The more she thought about it, the more unwilling she felt. She hailed a car and chased after Mu Wanwan and Qiao Le to the hospital.
“Lu Li really has bad luck—having a sister like Lu Ziqing is worse than having a fly buzzing around.” Qiao Le mumbled as she rubbed her shoulder after leaving the doctor’s office.
Mu Wanwan smiled faintly at her comment. “Still angry?”
Before she could finish, her words were cut off. Lu Ziqing’s face froze, and before Mu Wanwan could react, a gust of wind swept past her side.
“That’s right, you’re still yelling even though you’re hurt. Guess it’s not that serious then,” Qiao Le chimed in with a smile.
Lu Ziqing really was like a shadow that wouldn’t go away.
“Do you have any other injuries?”
“I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Looking into the man’s eyes, filled with worry and panic, Mu Wanwan smiled gently and took his hand.
On the way back, Mu Wanwan suddenly asked, “Did you call Lu Li?”
Seeing Lu Ziqing storming over angrily, Mu Wanwan stepped forward and placed Qiao Le behind her. “Lu Ziqing, this is a hospital. Causing a scene here won’t do you any good. Let’s step outside if you have something to say.”
Just as they entered, Jiang Yu called, saying she had met friends and went out to eat with them, and wouldn’t be home for dinner.
Instantly, her temper flared.
“How’s the injury? Is it serious?” Lu Li grabbed Mu Wanwan’s arm, his dark eyes filled with worry, examining her inch by inch.
Qiao Le raised an eyebrow. “Well, lucky you called Lu Li over. Otherwise, Lu Ziqing would have made a mess like a crazy dog. If Lu Li hadn’t been there, she’d probably still be causing trouble.”
Why didn’t he care about his own sister getting hurt? He was always worried about Mu Wanwan instead.
Qiao Le couldn’t help but go all out.
“Brother, I got hurt too.”
“Yeah, just got the invitation this afternoon. Flight tomorrow at nine.” Qiao Le grinned mischievously. “We can even hit a hot spring. Little Mu Wanwan, hehe…”
“What are you laughing at, I—” Lu Ziqing was furious, but a cold glance from Lu Li made her feel even more wronged.
Mu Wanwan gave Lu Ziqing a sympathetic look, her smile bright and dazzling.
Truly, what’s ignored in the day shows up at night.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she gets home safely,” Qiao Le said, linking arms with Mu Wanwan, then pulling her childhood friend away. She even showed her bruised arm to him.
Qiao Le laughed out loud. Talk about having no presence.
“Stop lying. You think I—” Lu Ziqing sneered, immediately assuming Qiao Le was lying.
“We already checked. Everything’s fine. You can rest easy,” Mu Wanwan said casually, brushing her hair aside to hide the wound.
Qiao Le added, “Every time we meet Lu Ziqing, it’s bad luck.”
As soon as the music played, it felt like a KTV scene.
“Of course we ate. Let’s get some beer too.”
Mu Wanwan sighed. “Are we still having hot pot?”
“We said just one can. I have a business trip tomorrow. If I drink too much, I won’t be able to get up,” Mu Wanwan said.
“Lu Ziqing, your brother is here.” Qiao Le glanced at the door, folding her arms, ready to watch the show.
“That’s right, I’m accompanying Wanwan home. We’ll have dinner at her place tonight.”
Lu Li looked at her forehead injury anxiously. “Really okay? Maybe we should see the doctor again, just to be sure.”
“No need. I’ll just go home with Lele,” Mu Wanwan said, tugging at Qiao Le’s clothes. Qiao Le instantly understood and nodded happily.
Lu Li turned his gaze. “Why are you here?”
An angry voice came from across, and Qiao Le’s face darkened.
“I’ll send you home.” Lu Li’s side glance softened slightly.
She’s his real sister, isn’t she? What is Mu Wanwan to him?
Qiao Le asked, “Business trip, where to?”
When Lu Ziqing got into a car accident, she had bruised elbows too. Just got her medicine, and unfortunately heard Qiao Le’s words.
The two of them shopped at the supermarket, bought a bunch of food, and finally returned home.
“What a coincidence.”
His cold, magnetic voice cut through the air like ice.
“To attend the opening ceremony of the Fu Group resort in Z City. Our magazine is covering it.”
Qiao Le casually draped her arm over Mu Wanwan’s shoulder. “My dear, I’m honored. This time, I can accompany you.”
Mu Wanwan side-eyed her. “You’re going to the resort too?”
Lu Ziqing’s eyes filled with disdain. “Mu Wanwan, stop pretending.”
From beginning to end, Lu Ziqing had been completely ignored. Watching Lu Li care only for Mu Wanwan, she ground her teeth in anger.
“What coincidence?”
“Wanwan!”
“Brother!”
Damn it.
Lu Li glanced coldly. “Rest at home if you’re injured. Don’t make a scene here.”
“Qiao Le, who are you scolding?”
Lu Ziqing glared at Qiao Le, wishing she could tape her mouth shut.
Mu Wanwan lightly tapped her head. “Always so ridiculous.”
Lu Li frowned, looking at the wound on her forehead, feeling annoyed. He reached out to touch it gently. “You said you’re fine… does it hurt?”
“Pfft.”
Mu Wanwan changed her clothes. The two of them played around while preparing hot pot. Just as they sat down, the doorbell rang.
They exchanged a glance. Mu Wanwan got up to open the door.
As soon as she opened it, a bottle of red wine came into view.
“Mu Wanwan, we came to mooch a meal. Are we welcome?” A cheerful voice, carrying Huo Zheng’s distinctive laugh, rang out.
The trip to the resort was super fun—stay tuned!
