Chapter – 52
What’s His Is Yours
“Wow, wow, look at you, rolling in money,” Qiao Le teased, squinting at Mu Wanwan. “Why do I never get treated like this?”
Mu Wanwan’s cheeks flushed slightly as she handed the wallet back to Lu Li. “I’ve got my own.”
“If Wanwan doesn’t want it, then give it to me,” said Huo Zheng, grinning mischievously.
Lu Li pushed his hand away. “Get lost.”
“Wanwan, Lu Li said you could take whatever you want, why be so polite?” Qiao Le leaned on the table with both hands, snatched Lu Li’s wallet, and shoved it into Mu Wanwan’s hands. “After all, what’s his is yours.”
Lu Li looked at Qiao Le with approval, then picked up his cup and sipped some honey water, the sweetness lingering on his lips.
Mu Wanwan felt a headache coming on. Was she being bought off by Lu Li tonight? “Stop talking nonsense,” she said, her face heating up.
“Isn’t that true, Wanwan? You’re not even married to Lu Li yet, and you’re already worrying about your husband’s money?” Qiao Le continued to tease.
Mu Wanwan looped her arm around Qiao Le’s neck and covered her mouth, blushing deeply. “Qiao Le, you’ve had too much to drink tonight. Stop it.”
“Don’t worry, Wanwan, Lu Li doesn’t have much else, but money—there’s plenty. You can splurge all you want,” Qiao Le said, oblivious to Huo Zheng watching the scene.
Mu Wanwan groaned, glancing up at Lu Li, who had a sly glint in his eyes. She wished she could vanish into the floor. “They’ve both had too much to drink…” she muttered nervously.
The door to the private room opened, and two slender figures walked in side by side.
Huo Zheng almost had a heart attack from irritation. He snorted. “If I remember correctly, Wanwan hasn’t even reconciled with you yet, and you’re still single too.”
“Wanwan, over here,” Qiao Le’s sharp eyes spotted the car sent by the Fu Group to pick them up. She grabbed Mu Wanwan’s hand and hurried over.
In the afternoon, their plane landed in Z City.
“Fu Dong, long time no see. You’re bold,” Huo Zheng said, recognizing the visitor with a familiar tone.
“It’s not easy to get a meeting with our Lu Da Boss,” Lu Li teased as they walked into the private room.
“Lu Li, Fu Dong’s been waiting. Come have a drink,” Huo Zheng said after putting down his luggage, realizing Lu Li was holding a phone.
Lu Li rolled up his sleeves and shot him a glance. “Single dogs wouldn’t understand.”
“Sooner or later,” Lu Li snorted.
Mu Wanwan was exhausted, barely able to keep her eyes open. “Who told you to stay up playing last night until midnight? Now look—panda eyes.”
Countless socialites had been invited to the grand opening of the VA Resort. On the scorching day, as soon as they got out of the car, everyone started exchanging pleasantries.
Mu Wanwan cleared her throat and tried to change the topic. “Let’s just play a few more rounds and then we can leave.”
Her phone buzzed in her bag.
Fu Dong smiled smugly. “Nice eye. I just brought this back from abroad a few days ago. I knew you two were coming today, so I brought it along. Thought it was thoughtful enough, right?”
Meanwhile, Lu Li looked toward the outdoor pool in the distance, his lips curling slightly. “Z City is hot. Make sure to drink plenty of water. Don’t get heatstroke.”
“Come in.”
“So sleepy,” Qiao Le mumbled, leaning against Mu Wanwan while waiting for the plane.
Mu Wanwan shook her head. “It’s nothing. Probably just tired from the past few days.”
Looking into his increasingly dark eyes, her voice grew softer.
“I have a big heart. I won’t fuss. Come on, Fu Dong’s waiting. If we’re late, he’ll find an excuse to make you drink more,” Huo Zheng said, changing the subject to push her along.
Lu Li’s thin lips lifted slightly. “They do make a fair point.”
“This wine is good,” Huo Zheng said, picking up a bottle from the table, his eyes revealing admiration.
The scorching weather made her feel like she was drying out in the sun.
Only Mu Wanwan and Qiao Le didn’t have the leisure to linger—they immediately returned to their prearranged room to rest.
“Brother, Huo Da Ge.”
The Fu Group and An Group had jointly established the VA Resort, which had just been completed and made headlines in Z City.
Lu Li cast a cold glance at him and walked over to sit across from him.
Qiao Le stretched lazily.
Fu Dong waved. “Just came back the other day and got dragged here to help.”
K.O.!
“Z City,” Mu Wanwan said.
Coming out of the airport, she felt like she was about to collapse from heatstroke.
Qiao Le adjusted her sunglasses. “All because of Huo Zheng daring to win so much from me.”
“Lu Da Boss is here, who dares?” Fu Dong smirked, his peach blossom eyes even more captivating.
“Nothing. I just called you two,” Fu Dong said, still confused.
Mu Wanwan looked at her phone—it was Lu Li calling.
“Wanwan, are you feeling unwell?” Qiao Le asked with concern.
…
The not-yet-opened resort was unusually lively today.
After playing Dou Di Zhu until past midnight, taking a shower and sleeping until nearly 2 a.m., and then having to catch a plane in the morning—it was exhausting.
Mu Wanwan rolled her eyes, pressed the call button, and said, “I have some things to take care of, so I’ll hang up first.”
“Oh, your guy is checking up on you,” Qiao Le teased, peeking over.
Huo Zheng poured wine and glanced at Fu Dong. “Who else did you call?”
He crossed his arms, smiling. “It’s only been half a day. Is it really that urgent to call your guy? Besides, you’ll see him soon anyway.”
A sudden knock on the door.
“When did you get back?”
Lu Ziqing let go of An Yao’s hand and, seeing the people in the room, walked over excitedly to sit beside Huo Zheng.
“Ziqing, what are you doing here?” Huo Zheng exclaimed, feeling overwhelmed.
Lu Ziqing smiled sweetly. “An Yao invited me.”
“Fu Dong, after all these years of being classmates, you only call Lu Li and Huo Zheng to hang out? You forgot about me—that’s not fair,” An Yao teased with a smile.
