Chapter – 66
From Now On, Call Me Sister-in-Law
“Cousin, don’t listen to his nonsense. Mu Wanwan is my sister.” He looked at Lu Li seriously, his sincere little eyes shining, almost as if he were about to hold up three fingers and swear.
Lu Li snorted lightly and corrected him, “From now on, call her sister-in-law.”
“…”
Huo Zheng and Fu Dong exchanged a glance.
This possessiveness… it was insane.
And the overwhelming sense of jealousy… pungent enough to make one turn green.
“You met Wanwan in the U.S., so how much do you know about what she was doing there?” To avoid being fed more PDA, Huo Zheng steered the topic back.
Fu Dong was about to speak when the door from the inner room suddenly opened.
Qiao Le came out. “What are you talking about?”
Before long, Lu Li returned, carrying a hairdryer.
“Why aren’t you wearing slippers?” He took long strides over to her, his gaze falling on her pale little feet, darkening instantly.
Mu Wanwan pursed her lips, a faint smile forming in her eyes.
The warm air from the hairdryer blew over her, making her squint in comfort. She tilted her head back, the man’s sharp jawline coming into view, and for a moment, she felt dizzy.
The first time he had ever dried her hair was on a rainy day.
“Stop chatting, let’s go first. It’s getting late, everyone go back to your moms’ house separately.” Qiao Le glanced at them, ignoring their little private gestures.
Following the address Huo Zheng had given, she had run to their training accommodation, nearly soaked to the skin. Huo Zheng had been surprised to see her like that.
Lu Li frowned. Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and Mu Wanwan stepped out barefoot. Her dripping long hair swayed with her movements, water dripping onto her clothes.
“Hmm, just chatting casually.”
Of all things, the training location was in a remote suburban area. At that time, she and Lu Li had a small quarrel.
She had gone out in a rush, bringing only her wallet and phone. Just as she got out of the car, a sudden downpour struck, and her phone died. Things couldn’t have gotten worse.
During their first year in college, Lu Li’s basketball club was about to reach the finals. For that final, the team went for intensive training.
She had seen someone handing Lu Li a love letter, and he hadn’t rejected it. At that time, they weren’t a couple yet. She was jealous but had no right to say anything. So she sulked alone and gave him the cold shoulder, not even showing up on the day he left for training.
Plugging in the hairdryer, he adjusted the temperature and ran his fingers through her hair as the dryer hummed softly in the bedroom.
Huo Zheng said vaguely, “Nothing much, just chatting.” He kicked Fu Dong’s foot, and Fu Dong nodded in agreement.
Lu Li stood, tossing out a line before heading into the bedroom, “Close the door when you go out.”
Mu Wanwan tugged at the corner of her lips helplessly. “It’s not even my room—where would I have slippers?”
Two days into the training, Huo Zheng called her, saying that Lu Li had been injured. In that instant, her mind went blank, and without thinking, she rushed straight to the training site.
“Sit here, I’ll get the hairdryer.”
Lu Li immediately remembered that this was his room. With a strong arm, he effortlessly picked her up. By the time Mu Wanwan realized it, she was already sitting on the sofa.
Walking into the bedroom, it was empty.
“Wanwan, what’s going on?”
She didn’t have time to explain, her thoughts entirely on Lu Li. “Where’s Lu Li?”
“Room 319, third floor.”
Huo Zheng had just finished speaking, and she, barely catching her breath, dashed upstairs in a hurry.
