When Duan Si returned, biting into a deer carcass, everything was already over.
He had sensed the fluctuations of abilities earlier, but just then he’d found the deer and delayed his return.
His scarlet serpent eyes swept over the area.
“What happened here?”
A beastman came over, holding two banana leaves wrapped with food.
“Duan Si, this is lunch your female left for you and Lu Liufeng. Do you want it?”
“If you don’t want—”
Before the beastman could finish, Duan Si reached out and took it.
“Where is she? Was there a fight here?”
The traces of ability in the air hadn’t completely dissipated.
He could tell—one was wind ability from Lu Liufeng, the other was fire—but whose fire ability it was, he couldn’t tell for now.
The young beastman scratched his head, speaking in a small voice.
“Nakan tried to court your female. Lu Liufeng fought him.”
Duan Si frowned. “And?”
The Lu Liufeng he knew wasn’t a beastman who fought out of jealousy or possessiveness.
It wasn’t like him to pick a fight over such a trivial thing.
Besides, they were all hoping that their female’s attention would be drawn to other beastmen. If someone courted her, it was actually good news for them.
The young beastman hesitated, mumbling,
“Your female… she taught us how to make lunch… and Nakan—Nakan called her Xixi.”
That was enough.
Duan Si instantly understood what had happened.
His gaze swept over the messy valley, and his face darkened.
“You’re provoking me!”
“Where’s Nakan!”
With a cold face, Duan Si swam toward Nakan’s cave.
When he arrived and saw Nakan inside, covered in whip-like wounds, his voice dropped to an icy tone.
“I won’t take advantage of you. When your injuries heal, we’ll fight one-on-one.”
Though Nakan’s injuries looked severe, thanks to Jiang Xi’s healing, they’d already stopped bleeding.
Nakan immediately came out of the cave, snarling,
“I accept your challenge! We can fight right now—Xixi already healed me.”
Duan Si’s red eyes narrowed.
“Then let’s see if you have the skill to back it up!”
Lion Roar Tribe.
Lu Liufeng carried his female on his back and flew directly into the tribe.
Circling once above his own home, he called down,
“Muling, Yi Yuexi—come out and help carry things.”
Then, with his female still on his back, he glided toward the tribe entrance and slowly landed.
That single lap in the sky drew quite a crowd.
“Lu Liufeng, where did you hunt that from?”
“Such a huge wild boar—no one in the tribe has caught one in ages!”
Before they could finish marveling, the onlookers collectively stepped back.
Because they’d just seen a female sit up on Lu Liufeng’s back.
Jiang Xi rubbed her eyes, still groggy.
“Are we there?”
She’d exhausted her powers and fallen asleep on Lu Liufeng’s back.
Only when she heard the voices did she groggily wake up.
“Isn’t that Jiang Xi? Why’s she out hunting with Lu Liufeng?”
“Hunting? More like he flew her all the way to the Hot Valley springs to bathe.”
“Poor Lu Liufeng, has to hunt and also fly that far just to let her wash up.”
Jiang Xi sluggishly climbed down from the giant eagle, still dazed.
But when the eagle walked behind the house and, in full view of her, transformed into a naked man—
her eyes went wide, and her brain instantly woke up.
She spun around so fast it was almost comical.
Lu Liufeng—seriously!
How could he transform without warning her first?
And how could he do that right in public?
Sure, the beastmen and females at the gate couldn’t see because of the angle,
but she had seen everything!
Her cheeks burned; heat rushed up her neck.
Her head was filled with the image she’d just seen—
The young man’s pale skin, tall frame, long legs, sleek muscles… and… and…
She was practically overheating.
Lu Liufeng, now dressed in animal hide, stepped out calmly, his expression unchanged.
Still that gentle, composed demeanor.
Seeing his female’s back turned, he even spoke softly,
“Please wait a moment, my lady. Muling and Yi Yuexi will be here soon.”
Carrying 300 catties was no issue for him,
but there were several hide bags—easy to hook with claws in eagle form,
not so easy to carry all at once in human form.
Jiang Xi mumbled an “Mm.”
The onlookers, seeing Jiang Xi turn around, stopped gossiping.
No one wanted to start a scene with her.
Just then, a dark-skinned female walked up, supported by three beastmen.
She gave an exaggerated gasp.
“Wow! Brother Liufeng, you’re amazing! You hunted this wild boar yourself? And all that food in the hide bags too?”
Jiang Xi moved aside a little, giving Lu Liufeng space to sort the food.
But instead of stepping away, Lu Liufeng stood a bit closer to her,
his gentle tone carrying a subtle note of pride.
“The boar, I hunted. But everything in the hide bags—our lady found those herself in Hot Valley.”
The female rolled her eyes at Jiang Xi.
“Brother Liufeng, come on, everyone in the tribe knows what kind of person she is. You don’t need to cover for her. Poor you.”
One of her beastmen tugged her sleeve.
“Nana Si, stop it.”
If they fought again, it’d be trouble.
The dark-skinned female—Nana Si—frowned and yanked her arm away.
“Hmph! I’ve already married you—you should call me female master, not by my name!”
Jiang Xi blinked twice before realizing—
Ah, this woman was picking a fight with her.
She didn’t like arguing, but she definitely wasn’t someone to be walked over.
She stepped forward, lifted her chin slightly, and said,
“Hey. Watch your mouth.”
“I’m standing right here, and you’re publicly flirting with my beastman and insulting me. What’s your deal? Can’t your own beastmen satisfy you?”
When beastmen and females married, they formed a soul bond—
breaking it was nearly impossible.
Some cases existed where a beastman found a Golden Soul Fruit to dissolve the bond,
but those fruits were so rare they’d become legend.
Maybe one would appear every few years.
So if a married beastman cheated, his female could fully punish him.
And as for the other woman—she wouldn’t be punished directly,
but her reputation would plummet, and her beastmen would be ridiculed too.
A beastman who couldn’t satisfy his female,
and a female who preyed on other women’s husbands—
neither were welcomed in any tribe.
So even though most of the Lion Roar Tribe disliked Jiang Xi,
and many females coveted her beastmen,
they all flirted secretly—
no one dared to do it openly and ruin their own reputation.
Nana Si’s dark face turned red—black-red, almost purple.
She shouted,
“How dare you slander me! You vile woman!
All you do is abuse and torment your beastmen!
They’ll never have a good life with you!”
Jiang Xi shrugged.
“So what you’re saying is—they’d have a good life with you?”
“What’s this, one beastman not enough for you?
You want all of mine too?
That’s a big appetite—can you even handle it?”
“You—you!” Nana Si pointed at her, trembling.
Jiang Xi tilted her head, still infuriatingly calm.
“What? You want to fight me?”
“My beastmen can accept your challenge.”
If conflicts between females couldn’t be resolved,
their beastmen could fight it out on their behalf.
That memory surfaced suddenly in Jiang Xi’s mind.
Because of her, her beastmen had been forced into countless duels before.
They didn’t want to fight, but they had no choice—
and they couldn’t afford to hold back and lose face.
That was also why, after the initial wave of confrontations,
most females in the tribe now avoided her.
It was how her beastmen, in just half a year,
had become famous throughout the Lion Roar Tribe.
The females were envious;
the beastmen pitied them.
Jiang Xi wouldn’t beat or force them.
But until she found a Golden Soul Fruit to dissolve their bond,
she had no problem using them to her advantage.
